Dom Gunn-Taylor
Tech recruitment, startups, and a camera that goes everywhere with me. Based in Wellington, New Zealand.
I help founders and technology leaders build their teams through Talent Army, mostly across New Zealand's startup and scale-up world. Outside of that I spend a fair bit of time in the local tech scene, back a few early-stage companies, and shoot a lot more photos than I used to.

What I actually do
I'm Executive General Manager and a shareholder at Talent Army, a technology recruitment company based here in New Zealand. Most of my work is with SaaS startups and scale-ups, helping founders and technology leaders build out their teams across software engineering, product, design, technology leadership, and go-to-market roles.
I try to get properly involved with the companies I work with, rather than taking a job spec, filling it, and moving on to the next one. The relationship side of it is the part I actually enjoy, and it's usually what keeps people coming back.
If you're a tech company looking to hire great talent in New Zealand, hit me up. That's what I do at Talent Army.

Startups, and having a go myself
Working alongside founders for this long has left me with a pretty genuine interest in New Zealand's startup and tech scene, well beyond just the recruitment side of it.
I've also put some of my own money into a handful of early-stage NZ tech companies. Nothing dramatic, just backing people and ideas I believe in.
I'm also building something of my own: Contraks, a contractor management tool. It started as an idea for a problem I kept running into, and it's still very much in progress, with more to come. It's already taught me a lot about how hard it actually is to take an idea and turn it into something people want to use, and given me a decent appreciation for what the founders I work with are dealing with.

Photography
I picked up a Fujifilm X100VI a while back and it's turned into a proper habit rather than something I just talk about. Here are a few I like, mostly from places I've travelled to and around Wellington.

A bit more about me
I grew up in Devizes, a small town in the UK, and moved to Wellington by myself in 2013. When I'm not working I'm usually at the gym, hunting down a good coffee or a decent feed, or planning the next trip. New Zealand's tech and startup scene is small enough that most of the people in it end up being friends as well as colleagues, which suits me fine.
